Its about different categories that involve criminal justice. It is about people and what they want to do in their future and what category they plan on going in the criminal justice field. Criminal Justice has many fields to go into. This topic matters because it gives me different looks of other peoples opinions and their perspective on Criminal Justice and what field they want to go in. I like reading about what my other classmates want to do with their future. Some of my classmates have different field careers or some similar ones and it is very important to me because in the future maybe one day I could be working with one of my classmates that I attended Colby Community College with. https://www.rasmussen.edu/degrees/justice-studies/blog/most-popular-jobs-criminal-justice-degree/

It's about law enforcement which members act in an organized manner to enforce the law, punishing people who violate rules and norms governing society. The matter of this is that laws where put in place in order to keep a stable and steady society, protecting and keeping the safety of others. The democracy of our country has been based on certain values. Some of these values include liberty, equality, and justice. Justice has been a cornerstone to society in America. There are different areas of justice and law enforcement: policing, corrections, and the court system to name a few. There are many different kinds of people using their many different skills to fill these jobs. Some people in law enforcement positions are good with computers, others are great at investigating, analyzing, or public relations. All of these people do have something in common though. All of them have a heart for others. They are willing to sacrifice their time, sleep, health, and sometimes even their lives in order to help others. Jobs in law enforcement are not easy. According to a Forbes article, in 2018, 106 officers lost their lives on duty. Fifty five of those officers were killed feloniously while the other fifty one were killed accidentally. Suicides among officers are also concerning. They face a lot of stress and pressure in their job. PTSD is also another struggle that many officers face. An article on psychology today states that according to some studies, it is estimated that 19% of the approximately 900,000 sworn officers in the United States may have PTSD. 34% do not meet a full diagnosis even though they suffer from symptoms of PTSD.

Working with inmates, I see first hand what people are capable of. The things I have heard, what I have seen, and what they tell me are altogether interesting, and yet depressing. It is important to remember that the people behind bars are still just that - PEOPLE. Regardless of what they did, or why they are behind bars, they are still human beings. It is important that regardless of the outcome, they are still treated that way. I find corrections extremely important for the sole purpose of helping those who wish for the help. There are, however, places that someone will go due to a court case, such as Hutchinson Correctional Facility. Yet, it is still a very needed part of our court system. I love my job as a detention deputy. I get to interact with people all the time, and it is important to know that you can be the difference in someone's life. https://www.doc.ks.gov/ https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Kansas_Department_of_Corrections
